Postgres Deployment Engineer – Nix

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Package software into our Supabase/PostgreSQL repository using Nix (with flakes) and assist in gradually moving our packaging from traditional methods to Nix packaging over time.

• Oversee PostgreSQL lifecycles, ensuring timely upgrades for major, minor, and extension versions.

• Enhance platform release systems to empower developers towards increased self-service capabilities.

• Optimize CI/CD processes and tooling, particularly by expanding GitHub Actions, team tools, and testing/release methodologies.

• Address production issues by proactively identifying and rectifying problems in customer deployments.

• Uphold best practices and testing standards to ensure improved stability and reduced deployment risks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Possess over 3 years of experience with PostgreSQL and its ecosystem, including extensions and performance enhancements.

• Be an Infrastructure Expert with a proven track record in management, tooling, and optimization.

• Demonstrate proficiency in the Nix package management system (including flakes) along with Ansible, Packer, Docker, QEMU/KVM, AWS, and Kubernetes.

• Have experience in building for various architectures, specifically Linux and Darwin/macOS aarch64 targets.

• Be comfortable working in polyglot environments, including builds for C/C++, Go, JavaScript, and Rust-based projects.

• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, particularly when engaging with customers.

• Have experience working in asynchronous or globally distributed teams and value independent, proactive problem-solving.

• Be willing to mentor others, taking responsibility for educating the engineering team on how to utilize and contribute to our Nix-based efforts.
