This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Formulate and implement strategies and campaigns to enhance the deployment of clean energy in the MISO and SPP regions.
• Prepare comments and produce reports, presentations, fact sheets, and other written and visual materials necessary for educational and advocacy initiatives, delivering verbal presentations when required.
• Oversee the monitoring and evaluation of MISO and SPP wholesale market reform initiatives and planning processes, providing valuable intelligence and insights for members and policymakers.
• Cultivate and sustain strong working relationships with United staff, members, partners, regulators, policymakers, and key staff and participants in wholesale electricity markets.
• Collaborate with United’s communications team to identify opportunities for securing earned media coverage, including op-eds, editorial board meetings, and more, in prominent media outlets.
• Participate in coordination and advocacy efforts with coalition partners to support clean energy objectives in MISO and SPP.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; a Master’s degree is advantageous.
• 4-6 years of professional experience, including some involvement in policy analysis, advocacy, and/or market analysis; experience with MISO, SPP, and/or other competitive wholesale electricity markets is highly preferred.
• Background in the advanced energy sector or clean energy advocacy is beneficial.
• Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset; candidates should be comfortable working and collaborating in a remote setting, initiating new projects, managing their own schedules, and meeting high expectations.
• Must be adept at working with and learning about complex economic and technical topics, with the ability to simplify them into easily understandable takeaways.
• Strong interpersonal skills are essential; candidates must be capable of successfully building and maintaining productive relationships with members, industry stakeholders, policymakers, and other key contacts.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required, including proficiency in public speaking.
• Possess intellectual curiosity, an inquisitive nature, and exceptional listening and problem-solving abilities.
• Willingness to travel and attend MISO and SPP stakeholder meetings as necessary, with travel averaging approximately 25%.
• Experience in advancing a policy agenda and/or collaborating with business leaders is a plus.
