P&C Underwriter – Commercial Real Estate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Accountable for developing a business portfolio that aligns with established budget expectations.

• Provide guidance and leadership consistent with the company’s vision, mission, and values while directly supervising, training, and mentoring the underwriting department.

• Ensure compliance with all underwriting guidelines pertaining to company procedures, rate levels, and underwriting authorities, both domestic and international.

• Participate in strategic discussions regarding the expansion into new states and/or territories.

• Effectively communicate with internal and external teams to ensure accountability in goal setting and strategic sales initiatives.

• Create a profitable portfolio focusing on underwriting discipline and achieving annual and monthly premium objectives.

• Safeguard core best practices to guarantee alignment and effective execution.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in property and casualty underwriting is essential, with a focus on binding authority and brokerage underwriting.

• Strongly preferred is experience in product development, discussions/decisions related to distribution channels, and territory expansion.

• Knowledge of additional property and casualty products is desirable.

• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.

• A P&C license is not mandatory but is highly valued and eligible for reimbursement upon hire.
