Pain Management Medical Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Manage and provide clinical oversight for up to 8 full-time Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant providers delivering mobile and telemedicine pain management services.

• Supervise telemedicine providers to guarantee quality care, suitable prescribing practices, and adherence to state and federal regulations.

• Review patient documentation and offer feedback to ensure clinical quality and regulatory compliance.

• Advise providers on evidence-based pain management protocols, including medication management, non-opioid therapies, and specialty referrals.

• Facilitate personalized treatment planning for geriatric and medically complex patients in skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and home care environments.

• Provide consultations, case reviews, and clinical guidance to providers as necessary.

• Attend one monthly provider meeting.

• Ensure that documentation, telehealth workflows, and prescribing practices are in accordance with Medicare, DEA, and New Mexico state regulations.

• Collaborate with leadership on quality improvement initiatives and the development of pain and palliative care services.

⛳️ Requirements

• Active MD or DO license in New Mexico.

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pain Management, Anesthesiology, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Palliative Care, or a related specialty.

• Active DEA registration in good standing.

• Medicare-enrolled provider.

• Preferred experience supervising NPs/PAs and/or telemedicine providers.

• Preferred experience working with geriatric, chronic pain, palliative, or post-acute care populations.

• Strong knowledge of safe opioid prescribing and multidisciplinary pain management strategies.
