Mid/Senior Data Engineer – Database Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Designs, models, documents, and governs the logical and conceptual data architectures, relationships, and schema evolutions for complex, enterprise-scale applications aimed at supporting tracking and accountability reforms.

• Analyzes current and emerging system requirements, subsequently developing comprehensive technical, structural, and organizational specifications to facilitate auditable, transparent data flows.

• Establishes and enforces standards for data modeling, capacity planning, and performance optimization to support high-reliability DoW environments.

• Develops robust Python-based scripts and ETL/ELT pipelines for the efficient and secure ingestion, transformation, and integration of data from various sources.

• Utilizes extensive expertise in Relational Databases (SQL) for advanced querying, schema design, optimization, and ensuring data integrity.

• Functions within Agile/SAFe development frameworks to deliver iterative, high-value increments that align with business priorities and DoW policies.

• Offers technical guidance and mentorship to ensure development efforts align with strategic FMS reform objectives, including improved tracking, oversight, and reporting.

• Performs additional tasks as assigned or required to further mission goals.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated Python development experience, including the creation of scalable data pipelines and automation solutions.

• Capability to work independently while excelling in collaborative team environments.

• Self-motivated initiator with strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive mindset.

• Clearance: Must possess and maintain an active Secret clearance at the time of consideration.

• Database Engineer II: 2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; 0 years of experience with a Master's degree in a related field; or a High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years of relevant experience.

• Database Engineer III: 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; 3 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree in a related field; 0 years of experience with a PhD in a related field; or a High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years of relevant experience.

• Database Engineer IV: 9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; 7 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree in a related field; 4 years of relevant experience with a PhD in a related field; or a High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years of relevant experience.
