Middle Social Studies Teacher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.

📋 Description

• This role is associated with Missouri Connections Academy.

• Certified Teachers will oversee instructional programs from their home offices located in Missouri.

• Utilizing telephone, Internet, and various curriculum tools, they will regularly consult with learning coaches and students to ensure successful completion of each child's instructional program.

• The Secondary Teacher will be tasked with the following responsibilities: Complete grading, generate progress reports, and conduct parent conferences promptly; Support the instructional program with both asynchronous web conferencing and synchronous instruction; Evaluate curriculum and create alternative methods for presenting lessons to enhance student comprehension (working directly with students and parents); Maintain regular communication with parents, students, and fellow teachers to develop and revise Personal Learning Plans and schedules, assess student performance, provide feedback on assignments, recommend instructional strategies, track assignment completion, and coach special projects; Collaborate with other teachers to guarantee that all students are advancing effectively through the program, that parents have a designated point of contact, and that responsibilities are shared among the educators; Acquire a general understanding of the K-12 curriculum for the entire program and an in-depth knowledge of the specific courses for which they are responsible; Assist students and parents with alternative strategies and provide additional help with daily assignments and projects; Maintain regular communication with parents, students, and curriculum specialists via computer and telephone; Ensure that student records and data are current, including cumulative files, online student and family information, attendance records, and documentation of all student and parent interactions; Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff learning specialists to develop alternative enrichment activities and modifications to student programs to enhance understanding; Work with other educators to coordinate social events and relevant field trips for students; Manage regional field trips and strive to integrate these experiences into the curriculum; Create and implement strategies to foster a "school community"; Participate in the organization and administration of State Testing, including in-person proctoring of State Tests at various locations across Missouri; Engage in student recruitment sessions and other marketing initiatives requiring teacher involvement; Collaborate with Advisory Teachers and School Counselors to ensure students and families receive appropriate communications, students are making satisfactory progress, and established objectives are being achieved; Attend and contribute to in-person training sessions and team-building activities scheduled throughout the academic year, with locations to be determined; Participate in field trips and other community activities organized for families; and perform other duties as assigned.

• Must be highly qualified and certified to teach Secondary Social Studies in Missouri (suitable for grade level and content area responsibilities).

• Experience with Professional Learning Communities is preferred.

• Strong technology skills, particularly with Microsoft OS and MS Office applications.

• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.

• A customer-focused approach is essential.

• High degree of flexibility is required.

• Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

• Demonstrated history as a team player.

• Willingness to travel occasionally for marketing and state testing events (may involve overnight travel).

• Capability to work remotely, if necessary.

• Availability for occasional evening hours, as needed to support families.
