This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
• Lead a team of six ML engineers to deliver cutting-edge AI solutions to Clio's clients, incorporating traditional ML models, GenAI, and agentic AI.
• Direct the team in the design and deployment of agentic systems, which include retrieval, tool utilization, orchestration, and the evaluation frameworks that ensure their reliability and safety in production.
• Collaborate across various functions with MLOps engineering, product management, operations, and data science to pinpoint new tooling for ML and LLM-driven features for Clio's customers.
• Engage in an agile environment alongside our team of ML engineers, ML ops, and full-stack developers on a variety of projects.
• Embrace opportunities to learn, push your boundaries, and refine your expertise as an ML and infrastructure specialist in a rapidly evolving domain.
• Participate in diverse projects and work collaboratively with multiple engineering teams across three countries.
• Review and offer feedback on code, both from your team and across Clio as a whole.
• Work with teams throughout Clio to diagnose, understand, and resolve issues, while developing solutions that may encompass various areas.
• Share knowledge and insights with your colleagues, providing constructive feedback and being receptive to input to foster personal growth.
• Proven experience in leading high-performing teams (6+ ML Engineers).
• Proficient in conducting technical evaluations of various ML and LLM products, vendors, out-of-the-box solutions, and executing quick proofs of concept as necessary.
• Comprehensive understanding of LLMs, GenAI, and the competitive landscape, including the direction in which the technology is advancing.
• Practical experience in building agentic systems, such as tool-calling agents, RAG pipelines, prompt and context design, and assessing agent behavior at scale.
• Experience in fine-tuning foundational models and/or training language models internally.
• Capability to manipulate, clean, and preprocess complex unstructured data for model development.
• Ability to quickly become proficient in new technologies and work effectively in a constantly changing environment that includes distributed teams and customers.
• Demonstrated success in mentoring within software development, especially using an Agile process and with large-scale SaaS products.
• A broad knowledge base that enables you to assist your team in solving intricate technical challenges.
• A track record of past projects, including notable achievements and lessons learned.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to cultivate high-trust relationships with fellow Clions and customers.
