This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Take charge of the entire execution of ML systems: from data pipelines and training workflows to evaluation systems, inference architecture, and deployment.
• Fine-tune and modify models using advanced techniques like LoRA, QLoRA, SFT, DPO, and distillation.
• Design and manage scalable inference systems, ensuring a balance between latency, cost, and reliability.
• Create and uphold data systems for high-quality synthetic and real-world training datasets.
• Develop evaluation pipelines that assess performance, robustness, safety, and bias, in collaboration with research leadership.
• Oversee production deployment, focusing on GPU optimization, memory efficiency, latency reduction, and scaling strategies.
• Work closely with application engineering teams to seamlessly integrate ML systems into backend, mobile, and desktop applications.
• Make practical trade-offs and implement improvements rapidly, gaining insights from actual usage.
• Operate under real production constraints, including latency, cost, reliability, and safety.
• Proven experience in building or deploying authentic Machine Learning systems that are actively used, rather than mere demonstrations.
• A background in Artificial Intelligence (AI) is essential.
• Familiarity with large models and an understanding of their potential failure modes.
• Proficient in writing robust, production-quality code.
• You are self-motivated, pragmatic, and take complete ownership of the results.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within small, high-trust teams.
• Tech Stack: Experience with GPU-based training and inference systems, as well as proficiency in JAX, Python, and PyTorch.
