This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Spearhead initiatives for database architecture and design, providing scalable, high-performance, and dependable solutions that align with business requirements and long-term strategic objectives.
• Utilize AI/ML technologies to enhance database operations through performance optimization, capacity planning, anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, and automation.
• Design, maintain, and improve database monitoring, alerting, backup, and disaster recovery systems to ensure system health, data integrity, and sustained availability.
• Diagnose and resolve intricate database issues while offering technical leadership, guidance, and operational support, including involvement in on-call rotations.
• Conduct regular database audits, assessments, and governance reviews to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, mentor junior database engineers, stay updated on emerging database technologies and best practices, and demonstrate flexibility to support global teams across various time zones.
• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience) with over 8 years of hands-on experience in database administration, management, and performance optimization.
• Profound expertise in MySQL, encompassing database design, implementation, configuration, security, troubleshooting, maintenance, backup/recovery, replication, and performance tuning.
• Strong background in automation and cloud technologies, including scripting with Bash, Python, or Ruby, and managing large-scale AWS environments, with knowledge of cloud-native database services such as RDS and Aurora; experience with Azure or GCP is advantageous.
• Experience in developing and maintaining database observability solutions, including monitoring, dashboards, and alerting using tools such as PMM, New Relic, VividCortex, or comparable database management platforms.
• Proficiency in high-availability and disaster recovery solutions, including failover clustering, Orchestrator, and strategies that ensure database reliability, resilience, and business continuity.
• Preferred qualifications include familiarity with PostgreSQL or MongoDB, configuration management tools (Chef/Puppet), Terraform, GitHub-based workflows, and relevant database administration or automation certifications.
