This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Serbia.
• Design, create, and sustain our backend systems and services.
• Facilitate technical discussions and assist in defining the architecture and technical strategy of the backend.
• Stay actively engaged in coding, conducting code reviews, and addressing complex technical issues.
• Supervise the development and upkeep of our GraphQL API, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Provide support and mentorship to engineers through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and constructive feedback.
• Aid in prioritizing tasks, identifying obstacles, and driving projects to completion.
• Manage deployments and contribute to enhancements in our Kubernetes environment on GKE.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, QA, and Engineering teams to deliver high-quality features and an exceptional user experience.
• Proactively seek opportunities for product and technical advancements based on business and user requirements.
• Assist in establishing and maintaining engineering best practices, code quality standards, and development processes.
• Cultivate a collaborative and inclusive team atmosphere while engaging with colleagues from diverse cultures and time zones.
• Over 5 years of experience in backend engineering.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Prior experience in leading technical projects, mentoring engineers, or overseeing a small engineering team.
• Proficient in Ruby; familiarity with functional programming patterns is a significant advantage.
• Advanced knowledge of SQL / PostgreSQL.
• Experience in developing GraphQL APIs.
• Comfortable with DevOps principles, including deployments, Kubernetes, and GCP.
• Regularly utilize AI tools (Claude, Cursor, etc.) in your daily development processes.
• Product-focused, proactive, and capable of working across various cultures.
• Strong sense of ownership and the ability to drive technical decisions from concept to implementation.
• Experienced in leading architecture discussions, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
• Ability to balance hands-on development with technical leadership responsibilities.
