This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop new functionalities and maintain the Android application tailored for rugged Zebra handheld devices.
• Collaborate within an established multi-module Android codebase alongside seasoned developers.
• Write Kotlin and Jetpack Compose code that interacts with RFID, barcode, and sensor data.
• Implement offline data management, local caching, and secure storage solutions.
• Work together with backend teams to facilitate application synchronization and ensure a seamless user experience.
• Support testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of device-related issues, including those encountered in the field.
• Engage in code reviews and participate in technical discussions.
• Enhance code quality and improve application reliability.
• Utilize best practices in Android development, secure coding, and application architecture.
• Create tools utilized by warfighters and logisticians for tracking operational assets.
• 0–2 years of professional Android development experience, or comparable experience through internships, coursework, personal projects, or other software development roles.
• Understanding of Kotlin and contemporary Android application development.
• Experience with or eagerness to learn Jetpack Compose.
• Basic knowledge of Kotlin coroutines and Flow.
• Familiarity with Android architectural concepts, dependency injection, and local data storage.
• Interest in hardware integrations, such as RFID readers, barcode scanners, sensors, or peripheral devices.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a readiness to debug, inquire, and learn new technologies.
• Familiarity with unit, UI, or instrumentation testing.
• Willingness to learn about cybersecurity, application hardening, and DoD deployment requirements.
• U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
• Capability to obtain a Secret clearance.
• Eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance.
• Familiarity with Git, including branches, commits, pull requests, collaborative code reviews, and resolving merge conflicts.
• Ability to compose clear commit messages and adhere to source-control practices.
• Willingness to understand CI/CD and release processes.
• Bonus: exposure to Dagger Hilt, Room, multi-module Android projects, MDM platforms, Zebra devices or SDKs, RFID/barcode workflows, automated testing, cybersecurity, RMF/ATO, application hardening, or IL4/IL5 environments.
• Some travel required.
