Integrations Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of customer integrations from start to finish. Lead onboarding discussions, assess the integration landscape (including systems, entities, and frequency), configure connectors, validate data, and ensure a smooth transition to the customer's CSM and implementation team.

• Develop and enhance connectors. Utilize our integrations platform to establish native connectors (including NetSuite, Salesforce, HubSpot, QuickBooks, Xero, SAP ECC / S/4HANA, Workday, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Google Sheets, Excel, and many others) and contribute to the creation of new ones when a customer requires integration with an unsupported system.

• Identify and resolve data discrepancies. Since customer data is seldom clean, you'll work alongside the Solution Consultant to trace inconsistencies between source systems and Drivetrain, comprehend the customer's chart of accounts and entity structures, and articulate in straightforward terms what is happening and how we will rectify it.

• Create and enhance documentation. This includes customer-facing setup guides, internal runbooks, and connector reference documents. If a question arises multiple times, it should be documented by the third instance.

• Serve as the customer's technical advocate within Drivetrain. Convert recurring customer challenges into inputs for the product and connector roadmap. Collaborate closely with the product, engineering, and customer success teams.

• Keep abreast of changes in source systems. As APIs are deprecated, SAP licensing changes, and NetSuite SuiteAnalytics undergoes revisions, staying informed and proactively notifying customers of potential impacts is an essential part of the role.


⛳️ Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in integration engineering, data engineering, solutions engineering, or implementation engineering, preferably for a SaaS product that involves financial or operational data.

• Proficient in SQL. You can compose a multi-CTE query without consulting a tutorial and can clarify a query plan when performance issues arise.

• Working knowledge of Python (or a similar scripting language) for building connectors, data transformation, and creating one-off utilities.

• Practical experience with REST APIs, OAuth 2.0, webhooks, and common authentication methods (API keys, service accounts, token rotation). Familiarity with SOAP and GraphQL is a bonus.

• Knowledge of at least 2–3 of the aforementioned source systems — understanding their data models, API behaviors, and challenges associated with data extraction.

• Comfort with data modeling concepts such as primary keys, joins, slowly changing dimensions, deduplication, time zones, currency conversion, and the intricacies of chart-of-accounts hierarchies.

• Debugging skills across the stack: analyzing logs, determining whether issues originate from the source API, the connector, the transformation layer, or the destination model.

• Proficiency in English; both written and verbal, with a neutral or near-neutral accent that ensures clear communication during live customer interactions. Most of our customers are located in North America, and you will be the technical representative they associate with Drivetrain throughout the onboarding process.

• Availability to provide support during US Eastern Time (EST/EDT) business hours. Our integrations team operates with significant overlap with EST to facilitate customer calls, escalations, and live debugging sessions without delays. You should be comfortable with a shifted schedule (typically late afternoon to late evening IST) and able to maintain it as your regular work routine.

• Clear, calm, and articulate communication skills, both written (via Slack, email, tickets, documentation) and verbal (during customer calls, sometimes involving both a finance controller and a head of IT).

• The ability to convey technical issues to non-technical stakeholders without oversimplifying or making them feel inadequate. Customers should finish a call with you feeling more confident rather than confused.

• Active listening skills. Many integration issues begin with customers mentioning something in passing that ultimately turns out to be the root cause. You catch those details.

• A sense of ownership and follow-through. When you commit to providing an answer by Thursday, the customer can expect to hear from you on that day; even if the response is simply, "I need another day."

• Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to push back. Customers may occasionally request things that are not feasible or misdescribe a problem. You can respectfully disagree and guide the conversation toward viable solutions.

• Previous experience in a finance, analytics, or data integration company (such as Fivetran, Workato, Airbyte, Mulesoft, Stitch, dbt Labs, etc.).

• Working knowledge of financial and accounting principles: GL, AR/AP, deferred revenue, cohorting, multi-entity consolidation.
