Inspector/Auditor, Organic Certification

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate farm, livestock, and processing/handling system proposals to ensure adherence to the USDA National Organic Program (NOP) and potential compliance with additional private standards (e.g., Regenerative Organic, etc).

• Organize travel arrangements and schedule inspections for new applicants as well as certified operations.

• Carry out inspections to assess compliance and generate detailed, precise reports.

• Effectively convey inspection findings in both written and verbal formats within established deadlines.

• Work closely with certification personnel to assist in final review decisions.

• Conduct peer assessments of fellow inspectors as necessary.

• Engage in internal discussions and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of inspection methodologies.

• Travel frequently (50–75%) across the U.S.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2,000 hours of relevant education and/or experience in agriculture, food processing, or food manufacturing.

• Experience specific to organic practices is highly preferred.

• Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance documentation.

• Exceptional attention to detail along with strong oral and written communication abilities.

• Capability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining high quality.

• Self-sufficient, proactive, and able to thrive in both independent and team-oriented environments.

• Proficient in translating complex technical information into clear and understandable language.

• Skilled in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, databases, and various IT tools.
