This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversees adherence to regulatory standards for all independent system operators and regional transmission organizations in the U.S.
• Acts as the company's foremost expert on ERCOT compliance, encompassing nodal protocols, operational procedures, settlement processes, and market guidelines.
• Monitors and reports on regulatory updates across all U.S. ISO/RTO markets, with a focus on ERCOT; assesses the business impacts of PRRs and stakeholder developments.
• Formulates and upholds internal compliance policies, procedures, and controls tailored to each ISO/RTO where the company is involved.
• Executes regular internal audits and gap analyses across trading, scheduling, settlements, and operational functions to identify multi-market compliance risks.
• Oversees all necessary filings, notifications, and reports to ERCOT, PUCT, FERC, and other relevant regulatory authorities, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
• Serves as the main point of contact for ERCOT Market Surveillance, PUCT enforcement inquiries, and NERC/Regional Entity audit activities.
• Manages cross-market compliance calendars and risk registers, ensuring that obligations across all ISO/RTO regions are monitored and fulfilled.
• Develops and delivers compliance training programs for operational, trading, and scheduling staff across all pertinent markets.
• Collaborates with legal, finance, and operations teams to integrate compliance requirements into new market strategies, products, and systems.
• Participates in ISO/RTO stakeholder meetings and working groups, especially within ERCOT, advocating for the company’s interests in rulemaking activities.
• Prepares compliance reports for executives and escalates significant risks to leadership in a clear and timely manner.
• Bachelor’s degree is mandatory, while a master’s degree is preferred.
• Over 5 years of regulatory compliance experience in U.S. ISO/RTO wholesale energy markets, with a strong focus on ERCOT expertise as a primary requirement.
• Familiarity with PUCT regulations and the structure of the Texas wholesale and retail energy markets.
• Comprehensive knowledge of ERCOT nodal protocols, market regulations, QSE/LSE responsibilities, ancillary services, and settlement processes.
• Proficient understanding of at least one other ISO/RTO (PJM, MISO, CAISO, SPP, NYISO, or ISO-NE) market rules and compliance frameworks.
• Knowledge of relevant NERC Reliability Standards (FAC, BAL, IRO, TOP, COM, and related series) and their relevance to generation, transmission, and market participants.
• Practical experience in addressing ERCOT enforcement inquiries and formulating mitigation strategies.
• Multi-ISO/RTO compliance experience across two or more markets concurrently.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and organizational capabilities with outstanding attention to regulatory details.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; adept at simplifying complex regulatory requirements for non-technical audiences.
