Health Information Specialist I

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Idaho.

📋 Description

• Receive and process requests for patient health information in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Company and Facility.

• Ensure confidentiality and security of all privileged information.

• Maintain a solid understanding of Company and facility software.

• Comply with the Company's and Customer facilities' Code of Conduct and associated policies.

• Keep the manager informed of work-related issues, site challenges, and/or variations in workload.

• Provide assistance with additional tasks or responsibilities as necessary.

• Consistently apply medical privacy regulations to prevent unauthorized disclosures.

• Oversee the management of patient health records.

• Safeguard patient records and ensure adherence to HIPAA standards.

• Prepare new patient charts by collecting documents and information from both paper and electronic health record sources.

• Ensure medical records are accurately organized in standard order and are complete.

• Create digital images of documents to be stored within the electronic medical record system.

• Respond to requests for patient records from both internal and external sources, retrieving and transmitting them as needed.

• Handle inbound and outbound calls.

• May assist with patients who walk in.

• May support administrative tasks such as managing faxes, sorting mail, and entering data.

• Must achieve productivity targets as specified at the respective site.

• May coordinate pick-ups.

• Other duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is required.

• Must be a minimum of 18 years old.

• Ability to travel between locations as necessary.

• Willingness to work overtime during peak periods when needed.

• Basic computer skills are essential.

• Comfortable using phones, fax machines, printers, and other standard office equipment regularly.

• Professional verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
