This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Manage and supervise customs and import/export compliance throughout the company's global operations.
• Create, execute, and uphold a thorough customs compliance program.
• Develop, implement, and continually improve the company's global customs and import/export compliance strategy.
• Ensure adherence to all relevant customs laws and regulations within business segments.
• Lead the identification and assessment of customs-related risks, while supporting their mitigation across the organization.
• Offer guidance and advice for day-to-day customs operations on a global scale.
• Work closely with the supply chain to incorporate customs considerations into sourcing decisions.
• Design and deliver training for relevant company personnel.
• Advocate for the adoption of technology, automation, and data analytics to enhance customs compliance.
• Foster and maintain the company's relationships with customs authorities globally, acting as the primary contact for customs audits.
• A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• At least fifteen (15) years of progressive experience in customs compliance, international trade, or a closely related area.
• Minimum of seven (7) years in a leadership capacity overseeing global customs operations.
• Proficiency in English.
• Willingness to travel internationally, ranging from 25% to 40% of the time.
• Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) designation or equivalent international certification is highly desirable.
• Juris Doctor (JD) or a master’s degree in international trade, supply chain management, business administration, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Experience within a Fortune 200 or similarly large, complex multinational organization.
• Previous experience in the energy, oil and gas, mining, or heavy industrial sectors is highly desirable.
• Proven experience in managing customs compliance programs across various regions.
• Extensive knowledge of customs laws and regulations in major trading jurisdictions.
• Strong understanding of how customs compliance intersects with related trade compliance areas.
• Proficient in global trade management software platforms and skilled in applying data analytics to customs operations.
