This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
• Conduct audits of halal food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic facilities, as well as supply chains and related processes to ensure adherence to relevant halal and quality standards (e.g., OIC/SMIIC, GSO, SJPH, etc.)
• Review documentation, procedures, and practices to confirm compliance with halal certification requirements
• Evaluate the effectiveness of halal management systems (HMS) and pinpoint areas that require enhancement
• Generate comprehensive audit reports that include non-conformities, observations, and suggestions for corrective actions
• Convey audit results to clients and offer advice on achieving and sustaining compliance
• Provide technical support and recommendations to clients for the implementation and enhancement of halal systems
• Confirm that corrective actions have been properly executed to rectify non-conformities
• Ensure that certified organizations continuously comply with relevant standards
• Engage in training and professional development to uphold auditing proficiency
• Collaborate closely with certification body teams, including fellow auditors, technical managers, and certification decision-makers
• Assist in the development and enhancement of audit protocols and certification processes
• Travel to client locations, which may encompass both domestic and international sites, to perform on-site audits
• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Pharmacology, Biotechnology, Agriculture, or a related discipline
• Additional certifications in halal auditing (e.g., lead auditor, FSSC 22000, or equivalent) are strongly preferred
• Prior experience as a halal and/or food quality auditor or in the implementation of halal and/or food safety management systems
• Comprehensive knowledge of halal, halal dietary laws, and halal production requirements is essential
• Understanding of halal and food safety standards (e.g., GSO, OIC/SMIIC, ISO 22000, HACCP, BRC, FSSC 22000, etc.)
• Familiarity with halal production processes, supply chain management, and regulatory requirements
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective client interactions
• Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously
• Proficient in report writing and documentation practices
• Ethical and impartial, dedicated to upholding the integrity of the certification process
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Capability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Willingness to travel frequently to client locations, including remote or rural areas
