This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.
• Serve as the incident commander during active fraud attacks, orchestrating containment and response efforts across various teams.
• Direct intricate fraud investigations, pinpointing root causes and suggesting permanent solutions to avert future occurrences.
• Evaluate the severity of fraud cases and promptly escalate high-risk incidents to the Manager or Compliance team.
• Implement swift containment measures (such as blocks, freezes, and restrictions) to reduce fraud exposure during ongoing incidents.
• Analyze, develop, implement, and refine fraud detection rules to enhance accuracy and reduce false declines.
• Perform backtesting of rule logic using historical data to confirm effectiveness prior to deployment.
• Monitor rule performance in production, adapting based on real-time data and outcomes from investigations.
• Take ownership of the False Decline Rate for fraud rules established by the Fraud Investigations team, ensuring it remains within acceptable limits.
• Conduct quality assurance assessments on BPO fraud analyst casework, evaluating both adherence to processes and the accuracy of decision-making.
• Offer structured feedback and coaching to BPO teams to foster continuous improvement in the quality of investigations.
• Establish and uphold QA scoring frameworks and calibration standards.
• Design, deploy, and assure the quality of AI-driven agents and automated workflows that improve fraud detection and investigation efficiency.
• Discover opportunities to automate repetitive investigative tasks, enhancing the team’s operational capacity.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Data, and ML teams to translate investigative insights into scalable tools and controls.
• Work closely with Product, ML, Engineering, and Compliance teams to aid investigations and contribute to strategies for fraud mitigation.
• Provide assistance to internal teams raising fraud-related inquiries, serving as a subject matter expert on fraud risk.
• Ensure precise and timely documentation of fraud cases, maintaining clear records for internal reports and external audit requirements.
• Identify deficiencies in tools or processes and offer actionable feedback to enhance detection accuracy and investigation efficiency.
• Over 3 years of experience in fraud detection, prevention, and investigation, ideally within financial services, payments, or e-commerce.
• Proven experience leading complex fraud investigations from initial alerts through root cause analysis to remediation.
• Practical experience in building, implementing, and tuning fraud detection rules, including backtesting and performance oversight.
• Strong grasp of fraud typologies, attack methods, and emerging trends in the cryptocurrency and digital payments sectors.
• Proficiency with data analysis tools and the capacity to derive conclusions and recommendations from extensive datasets (e.g., SQL, Excel, or BI tools).
• Excellent critical thinking and risk assessment abilities—you can evaluate the likelihood and impact of fraudulent activities under pressure and make informed decisions.
• Keen attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Clear and professional communication skills, capable of crafting concise case notes, escalations, and cross-functional updates.
