This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Perform internal Fire Life Safety audits for Hyatt properties.
• Ensure property adherence to Hyatt’s minimum FLS standards and local regulatory requirements while overseeing modifications and adaptations during the installation of FLS systems.
• Collaborate with Development, Engineering, and Operations teams to identify and address FLS gaps.
• Monitor project timelines, manage construction documentation, and verify project completion. Offer technical guidance to design and construction teams during pre-opening to ensure alignment with Hyatt’s “gold standard” FLS practices.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies, national codes, and best practices for automatic sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, life safety, and smoke control.
• Work in conjunction with external Fire Marshals and local authorities as necessary to secure joint sign-off and compliance approval.
• Create and maintain standardized internal auditing templates, checklists, and reporting protocols.
• Identify systemic issues, trends, or recurring FLS nonconformities and relay these findings to Global Risk and Engineering leadership.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in fire protection system inspections, or a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering with at least 5 years of experience in Fire and Life Safety inspection, audit, or compliance roles (preferably in hospitality, construction, or facilities).
• Strong knowledge of the International Building Code (IBC) and National Fire Protection Association Standards (NFPA).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience with FLS Plan Review is preferred.
