Financial Crime Analyst

Posted Jun 24

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Engage in genuine compliance casework by investigating alerts, adjudicating transaction monitoring flags, conducting KYC/KYB reviews, preparing SARs and CTRs, and executing screening investigations. This encompasses the complete range of BSA/AML responsibilities across our client portfolio.

• Collaborate with agents on active cases. You'll partner with agents in real-time casework, critically evaluating their reasoning, identifying errors, and ensuring that all outcomes align with the client's regulatory requirements.

• Determine the role of human oversight in compliance processes. Assess which cases necessitate human intervention and the triggers for escalation. You will establish the criteria that agents can rely on, transforming instinct into actionable guidelines.

• Revise operational protocols. When you identify a recurring false positive, an overlooked signal, or a jurisdictional anomaly that isn’t addressed in the SOP, you'll address it at the root. This includes updating workflows, retraining agents, and validating changes against historical cases.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven compliance background: A minimum of 2 years in AML, BSA, KYC/KYB, transaction monitoring, or financial crime investigations within a bank, fintech, MSB, or consulting firm. You have hands-on experience with actual cases rather than merely theoretical knowledge of regulations.

• Familiarity with workflows: You are adept at alert adjudication, SAR/CTR filing, screening investigations, EDD, and document review. You have managed these processes independently without requiring constant guidance.

• Systematic thinker: You have analyzed compliance workflows and identified inefficiencies, expressing clear ideas on how to improve them. Your ambition is to innovate the processes rather than simply follow them.

• Collaborative approach with agents: While you don’t need to be a developer, you should be curious enough to explore new tools and frustrated by workflows that could be more efficient.

• Strong decision-making skills: You possess the ability to discern when a situation appears suspicious, when a case warrants escalation, and when an AI-generated output requires further examination. You can articulate the rationale behind these decisions to enhance system learning.

• Commitment to precision: You understand that overlooking a SAR or creating a hasty narrative is not just a flaw but something that regulators will scrutinize. You embody the discipline necessary to uphold accuracy amid rapid workflows, ensuring that speed does not compromise correctness.

• Ability to clarify complexity: Whether drafting a SAR narrative, outlining a reasoning trace for an agent’s learning, or providing explanations for regulators, you excel at transforming a convoluted investigation into a clear, defensible, and valuable document.

🏝️ Benefits

• Redefine compliance processes from the ground up: Most existing workflows were created for manual operations. You will have the opportunity to envision how these should function when an AI agent is performing the tasks, and then execute that vision.

• Your insights will shape the system: Every rule for escalation, every nuanced case, and every instinct regarding what shouldn't have been automatically cleared will be integrated into the agents' reasoning framework. You are not merely processing tasks; you are crafting the future playbook for compliance.

• Tackle substantial challenges, not trivial tasks: When an agent raises a concern, it signifies that standard logic has been exhausted. You’ll handle cases that truly require judgment and work on developing the system to manage similar situations in the future.

• Experience genuine variety and significant impact: Frontline serves banks, fintechs, and payment companies across numerous jurisdictions. Each client presents unique patterns, regulations, and edge cases, all of which enhance the system’s effectiveness.

• Pioneer a new industry category: As AI-native managed services represent an emerging model, you will be among the first to validate its effectiveness and set the benchmark for those who follow.
