This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead operations and maintenance (O&M) activities for both Ameresco and client-owned battery energy storage system (BESS) assets across the country, ensuring optimal system uptime, compliance with performance standards, and precise reporting to off-takers.
• Design, implement, and uphold preventative and corrective maintenance schedules.
• Supervise internal field technicians and third-party contractors engaged in maintenance and repair tasks.
• Handle Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) warranty claims and oversee service coordination related to preventative maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) activities.
• Guarantee that all work is conducted safely and in accordance with NFPA 70E, OSHA, and company protocols.
• Conduct and/or facilitate root cause analysis (RCA) for system failures and performance concerns.
• Assist in system performance analysis utilizing SCADA, Energy Management Systems (EMS), and OEM monitoring platforms.
• Analyze asset performance trends and provide subject matter expertise (SME) to the Remote Operations Control Center (ROC).
• Collaborate with the ROC to create and submit monthly reports summarizing performance metrics, incidents, and maintenance activities.
• Establish and oversee spare parts inventory strategies on a project-by-project basis.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors to enhance system performance and reliability.
• Manage O&M budgets, encompassing labor, materials, and subcontractor expenditures.
• Ensure adherence to O&M contracts and service level agreements (SLAs).
• Follow Asset Planner (CMMS platform) standard operating procedures (SOPs), demonstrating proficiency in PM and service request (SR) modules, proactive SR management, and KPI/CMMS reporting tools.
• Act as the main point of contact for clients and stakeholders regarding site operations.
• Coordinate with engineering, asset management, and ROC teams to ensure cross-functional alignment.
• Lead project and client meetings, delivering clear communications regarding system status and performance.
• Support and mentor field technicians, both onsite and remotely.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Be available for work during weekends and holidays as necessary based on system requirements.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in operations and maintenance within the battery energy storage, solar, or renewable energy sectors.
• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Energy Management, or a related discipline (or equivalent field experience).
• A valid Driver's License in good standing, issued by the state of residence.
• A Journeyman's Electrical License in the state of residence.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities, with experience supervising field technicians and contractors.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple sites, priorities, and stakeholders in a dynamic environment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and root cause analysis expertise.
• Excellent communication skills and experience in client-facing roles.
• Proficiency in SCADA, EMS platforms, and CMMS systems (e.g., Asset Planner).
• Experience with tracking KPIs, reporting tools, and performance analytics.
• Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA standards, OSHA regulations, and utility-scale safety practices.
• Familiarity with battery energy storage systems, inverters, transformers, and balance-of-system components.
