This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.
• Leading a compact product team comprising 3-5 engineers (both backend and frontend).
• Allocating 30% of time to management responsibilities while actively engaging in product development with the team.
• Participating in the hiring process for their own team and potentially assisting colleagues.
• Overseeing the onboarding process for new engineers in addition to recruitment duties.
• Acting as the representative for the team, responsible for managing team dynamics and fostering peak performance.
• Providing ongoing and constructive feedback on various tasks.
• Supporting the team in their continuous development and being accountable for each direct report’s career progression.
• Offering guidance and coaching to team members.
• Redefining how engineering tasks are executed with autonomous agents as the standard execution layer.
• Proposing and implementing end-to-end agentic workflows (spec → plan → execute → verify) to accelerate outcomes.
• Creating reusable agentic workflows and primitives within the codebase for teams to apply across different domains.
• Utilizing verification loops (tests, checks, evaluations, guardrails) to ensure the accuracy, security, reliability, and scalability of results.
• Experience managing an engineering team of at least 2 individuals.
• Extensive expertise in Backend development (Elixir/Phoenix or Ruby or functional programming).
• A strong commitment to upholding all of Remote's values within the team and the broader organization.
• Solid engineering foundations and a proven history of delivering secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Practical experience in designing or adopting agentic/automation workflows (or similar systems) and refining them through iteration.
• Capability to think systemically: clearly define specifications, decompose plans, implement verification, and maintain quality control.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong understanding of engineering and development principles and best practices.
• Proven organizational abilities with a keen attention to detail.
• Focused on efficient processes while maintaining a kind, people-centered approach.
• Ability to inspire others and foster confidence.
• Good understanding of team dynamics.
