• The Director of EHS Strategy, Compliance, and Assurance is accountable for key activities within the Global Environment, Health, Safety (EHS) organization, including strategy, governance, compliance, assurance, EHS management systems, budget management, long-term financial planning, and innovation across Kenvue's internal and external value streams.
• Work collaboratively with the CRE and Quality Leadership Teams, as well as all levels of EHS Site Operations, to effectively execute the responsibilities associated with this position.
• This leader will closely partner with Kenvue EHS leadership to shape and implement the EHS Ambition and a 3-year tactical plan.
• Drive global governance to foster continuous improvement of the EHS Management System, which includes EHS Performance Standards and assurance programs.
• Establish global processes to guarantee data quality and integrity for external reporting to regulatory agencies, including reports like the Kenvue Health Lives Mission report.
• Oversee the Kenvue EHS assurance and ISO audit processes to identify and mitigate EHS risks.
• Manage global EHS budgets and long-range financial planning.
• Collaborate with business leaders, EHS leadership, and EHS Operations to develop a rolling 3-year ambition, associated tactics, KPIs, and resources to achieve top-tier EHS performance, reduce risks, and eliminate severe or fatal (SIF) events and undesired environmental incidents.
• Foster continuous improvement of the Kenvue EHS management system in alignment with ISO 14001 and 45001, as well as enhance EHS Performance standards.
• Provide leadership and direction to two direct reports responsible for EHS Management Systems, Competency, Assurance, and project management.
• Establish governance for EHS Leadership Team regarding data quality, EHS Management Review, program management, and review processes.
• Participate as a member of the QHS Strategy Leadership team to integrate EHS and Quality initiatives where applicable.
• Collect insights from both internal and external sources to drive exemplary EHS performance.
• Develop and implement a global compliance calendar aligned with the EHS Performance standards.
• Create and report on Compliance KPIs.
• Approve data quality and lead manual validations of Tier 1 EHS data reported to external entities.
• Collaborate with EHS Subject Matter Experts to provide input, evaluate, and implement emerging EHS regulations.
• Propel continuous improvement of the Kenvue EHS assurance program by defining program elements, monitoring performance, and seeking innovative approaches to enhance data quality and drive performance.
• Lead the global assurance audit process, including training and capability development for auditors, audit scheduling, and timely issuance of audit reports by Regional EHS Excellence Managers.
• Manage Global ISO 14001 and 45001 certifications.
• Develop and oversee a long-range financial plan for Global EHS initiatives.
• Collaborate with Finance to create the annual business plan and quarterly updates for the Global EHS budgets.
• Issue purchase orders, approve invoices, and ensure the execution of a zero-based budget annually.
• Foster a culture of innovation through education and sponsoring the evaluation of innovations to enhance efficiency and EHS performance.
• Partner with Digital Q&C to identify EHS opportunities and incorporate future digital/data needs into the EHS digital roadmap.
• Lead the EHS Innovation team in identifying and sharing innovative EHS solutions that address site-specific challenges.
• Establish and lead EHS governance processes, including EHS leadership team meetings, town halls, and communications.
• Accountable for developing strategies and tools for evaluating and continuously improving EHS competencies and employee engagement.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and lead cross-functional efforts to integrate Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles across Quality and EHS.
• Responsible for cultivating a culture that recruits, nurtures, and develops talent, promotes diversity and inclusive behaviors, and fosters high-performing teams. Connects externally with industry associations and thought leaders.
• A minimum of 10-12 years of demonstrated successful performance.
• A university/bachelor's degree in engineering, science, education, management, or safety sciences.
• Proven ability to lead, build relationships, influence, and implement standard business processes and procedures.
• Experience in multi-site EHS or multi-regional environments with increasing responsibilities.
• Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills for data evaluation and results assessment.
• Proven experience with change management.
• Technical expertise in EHS disciplines.
• Exceptional leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to gain trust and influence at all levels.
• Experience with or exposure to global program development, deployment, or initiation.
• Guidance provided to senior management in enhancing organizational methodologies and procedures to focus on critical EHS issues.
• Ability to work in virtual cross-regional and cross-functional teams, simplifying complex situations into practical solutions, managing complexity, collaborating across all management levels, and influencing decision-making within a matrix organization.
• Knowledge of global EHS regulations, ISO certifications, EHS Management systems, Human & Organizational Performance, and current EHS culture trends.
• Experience in the development and implementation of EHS audit programs.
• Demonstrated project management abilities, including maintaining project schedules, creating dashboards, and tracking metrics.
