This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Develop, implement, and enhance the compliance program for the company across gaming, social sportsbook, DFS, and prediction market sectors.
• Take ownership of the regulatory, market, and credit risk profiles necessary for obtaining prediction market licenses.
• Draft, maintain, and refine compliance policies, procedures, internal controls, rulebooks, and terms and conditions.
• Lead the CFTC compliance strategy by structuring event contracts and prediction market products, focusing on product structuring, contract terms, and market integrity rules.
• Oversee regulatory registrations, applications, and filings under FCM frameworks, preparing the organization for the associated ongoing obligations.
• Ensure adherence to the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA), CFTC, and NFA regulations concerning event-based products.
• Verify that all consumer-facing initiatives, marketing campaigns, disclosures, and user acquisition strategies align with FTC guidelines and consumer protection standards.
• Review marketing, advertising, and educational materials to ensure compliance with FTC standards and relevant CFTC/NFA advertising regulations.
• Supervise privacy compliance, including data protection, security practices, and user consent frameworks in collaboration with product teams.
• Act as the primary liaison for state gaming authorities, federal regulators (CFTC and FTC), and self-regulatory organizations.
• Manage regulatory filings, licensing renewals, independent audits, and regulatory examinations.
• Monitor, interpret, and proactively respond to changing federal and state laws affecting all Fliff sectors.
• Oversee and enhance Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Financing of Terrorism (CFT), fraud prevention, and Know Your Customer (KYC) programs.
• Collaborate with internal security and operations teams to investigate suspicious activities, detect market manipulation, and handle high-level escalations.
• Support contracting and commercial efforts without causing delays.
• Work closely with Legal, Risk, Product, Engineering, Operations, Payments, Marketing, and Finance teams to establish compliant operations under federal and state regulations.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in compliance, legal, or regulatory positions within gaming, fintech, prediction markets, or derivatives and commodities trading.
• An active Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school and a valid license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction is preferred.
• Direct experience or a strong working knowledge of the Commodity Exchange Act, CFTC and NFA rules, and regulatory frameworks for event contracts or prediction markets.
• Proven experience navigating FTC guidelines, advertising compliance, and consumer protection laws within digital consumer sectors.
• Experience in establishing, developing, or maintaining a compliance program in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment with limited precedents.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with risk management functions, particularly with a Head of Risk, to address complex compliance and operational challenges.
• Strong analytical and project management abilities, capable of translating intricate federal regulations into practical, actionable guidance for product and business teams.
• Capacity to work independently, manage competing priorities, and excel in a rapidly changing regulatory landscape.
• Competitive compensation package, including base salary, benefits, and equity. The annual salary for this role ranges from $220,000 - $260,000 based on experience and background.
