This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• The DevOps Engineer IV acts as a senior individual contributor and a technical leader within the team, offering leadership, guidance, and mentorship to fellow engineers.
• You will be tasked with fulfilling scope, schedule, and delivery objectives, engaging with stakeholders, and fostering enhancements in DevOps processes and practices throughout the program.
• Design, construct, and sustain automated CI/CD pipelines in GitLab CI and Jenkins, utilizing build-once promotion patterns, fail-fast verification, and automated rollbacks across development, staging, and production environments.
• Develop and uphold shared deployment tools, reusable GitLab CI templates, and Terraform modules that more than five AppDev delivery teams utilize as self-service infrastructure.
• Ensure the maintenance of standard, secure base Docker images for Java, Python, and Angular applications; deploy containers on AWS ECS, EKS, or Fargate while adhering to zero-downtime patterns.
• Implement pipeline security and quality gates (including Trivy container scanning, SonarQube static analysis, and Open Policy Agent policy-as-code) at the commit/merge stage.
• Reduce over-privileged IAM configurations by applying least-privilege standards without interfering with live production services.
• Create the roadmap for and execute DORA metrics (Deployment Frequency, Change Lead Time, Change Failure Rate, MTTR) within the program's CI/CD capabilities.
• Author and uphold runbooks, deployment documentation, and architecture documentation; lead knowledge-transfer sessions with engineering teams.
• Engage in SAFe ceremonies such as PI planning, dependency management, and CI/CD roadmap development.
• Assist in recruiting efforts by evaluating homework assignments and potentially participating in interviews.
• A Bachelor's degree alongside 8+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent additional experience in place of a degree.
• Over 5 years of practical experience with AWS, Terraform (or similar Infrastructure as Code), and Git/GitLab in production settings.
• Experience in supporting five or more engineering teams through a shared DevOps/platform function.
• Proven experience in designing and constructing CI/CD pipelines in GitLab and/or Jenkins, including quality and security gates.
• Strong working knowledge of containerization using Docker and orchestration on AWS ECS/EKS/Fargate.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, including SAST, dependency scanning, and automated vulnerability remediation.
• Exceptional communication and documentation skills; comfortable in a highly collaborative Agile/SAFe environment.
• Extensive expertise in designing reusable CI/CD templates and Terraform module libraries used by multiple teams.
