Databricks Security Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Assist in the deployment of the Databricks access control framework

• Oversee data structures, permissions, and tagging within Unity Catalog

• Uphold security measures for sensitive data, including filtered and masked access

• Manage access controls as code utilizing Terraform and related tools

• Collaborate with administrators and platform teams to ensure access control consistency across the environment

• Facilitate audits, reporting, and documentation concerning data access

• Offer daily guidance to engineers regarding tagging and access requests

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in software engineering, data engineering, or a similar technical field, with 5+ years of relevant experience

• Alternatively, 3 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree in a pertinent discipline

• Knowledge of RBAC and ABAC access control principles

• Proficiency with Databricks and Unity Catalog

• Understanding of Databricks system tables, audit logs, and access reporting

• Working familiarity with SQL and Python

• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and Terraform

• Knowledge of AWS cloud IAM concepts, including groups, roles, policies, and service principals

• Experience in supporting data classification, data governance, or data tagging

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to operate within established governance and approval processes

• Preferred: experience in supporting technical or operational aspects of SOC 2, HIPAA, or GDPR compliance requirements
