Database Reliability Engineer – Remote

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Cyprus.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of Database Reliability by implementing high availability and disaster recovery strategies.

• Architect for Scale by defining and executing the roadmap for scalability.

• Optimize Performance through in-depth query optimization efforts.

• Design Infrastructure by building and managing scalable inference and connection pooling strategies.

• Establish Observability by designing the monitoring architecture and defining SLIs/SLOs.

• Champion Security by applying banking-grade security practices.

• Partner Across Engineering by collaborating with product teams for necessary database schema changes.

• Lead by Example by setting the technical standards for the DBA function through mentoring.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in high-load, production environments, preferably in Fintech or mission-critical systems.

• Deep PostgreSQL Expertise with advanced knowledge in index design (B-tree, GIN, GiST, BRIN), partitioning, and vacuum tuning.

• HA/DR Mastery with a proven track record in designing streaming replication, clustering, and automated backup validation.

• Cloud Fluency with hands-on experience in cloud-managed PostgreSQL, specifically GCP, and Linux systems administration.

• Automation Mindset with proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD workflows (GitLab, ArgoCD).

• Strong SQL Skills with expertise in complex queries, stored procedures, and functions.

• Observability Stack experience in building monitoring and alerting systems for databases (Prometheus/Grafana).

• Fluent in English.
