Database Reliability Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the reliability, performance, and scalability of Fuse's database infrastructure, specifically focusing on Postgres and ClickHouse.

• Design and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines to meet the analytics, reporting, and product requirements.

• Lead the design and development of analytical schemas, converting business logic into structured and intuitive data models.

• Facilitate the migration and transformation of data from Postgres to ClickHouse, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

• Create and manage DBT models that accurately represent our business domain, making data easily accessible for various teams.

• Implement testing and data quality checks to guarantee the reliability and trustworthiness of datasets.

• Identify and eliminate duplicate records, enhance data consistency, and uphold clean modelling standards.

• Oversee all database and infrastructure modifications using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to minimize direct database changes.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a backend engineering or data-centric engineering role.

• Proficient in writing clean SQL — expertise in Python and SQL is essential.

• Hands-on experience with relational databases, especially Postgres.

• Experience in designing schemas and constructing data models that accurately reflect real-world business logic.

• Knowledge of DBT or similar data transformation frameworks.

• Strong comprehension of data validation, testing, and quality assurance practices.

• Manages all infrastructure using IaC tools (such as Pulumi, AWS CDK) — treating the database as code rather than a manual system.

• Quickly understands new business domains — capable of translating unfamiliar logic into clear, intuitive data models without needing extensive guidance.

• Familiarity with cloud-based data orchestration tools (like Dagster or Step Functions).

• Knowledge of CI/CD practices for data pipelines and transformations.
