Data Migration Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Investigate legacy source systems to comprehend their structure, quality, and interconnections.

• Extract source data utilizing various access methods.

• Convert exported data into gaiia's standardized format.

• Carry out end-to-end migrations on the internal migration platform.

• Develop and reuse mappings, templates, and validation rules.

• Contribute minor engineering enhancements to the migration tools.

• Identify and resolve data inconsistencies during dry runs, UAT, and post-cutover phases.

• Document mapping specifications, transformation processes, and data anomalies.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3-5+ years of experience in data engineering, data migration, ETL, or a similar hands-on data position.

• Strong understanding of ETL principles.

• Proficient in data manipulation techniques.

• Experience in extracting data from diverse sources.

• Demonstrated capability to convert unstructured, poorly documented data into organized, clean formats.

• Comprehensive knowledge of data quality, validation, reconciliation, and cleansing practices.

• Familiarity with OSS/BSS, telecommunications, or billing/CRM data models.

• Proficient in TypeScript/JavaScript (Node).

• Preference for reusability and automation rather than creating one-off scripts.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data/Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
