This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.
• Engage in the design, development, and upkeep of data pipelines utilizing ETL/ELT processes to gather, transform, and load data from diverse sources into the data warehouse.
• Establish and uphold data quality checks and validation processes to guarantee data accuracy and dependability.
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to comprehend their data needs and deliver solutions that fulfill their analytical requirements.
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of data models, schemas, and dictionaries to ensure data consistency and usability.
• Monitor the performance of data pipelines and address data-related issues promptly.
• Aid in the assessment and implementation of new data technologies and tools.
• Create and maintain documentation for data pipelines, processes, and data models.
• Contribute to the formulation of data governance policies and procedures.
• Engage in code reviews and knowledge exchange sessions with fellow data engineers.
• Facilitate the migration of existing data pipelines to more scalable and efficient solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline.
• Over 3 years of experience in data engineering or a comparable role.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python or Java.
• Understanding of data warehousing principles, modeling, and methodologies.
• Expertise in SQL and experience with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle).
• Experience in optimizing complex queries.
• Strong proficiency in using Git for version control and collaborative coding.
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).
• Awareness of cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience with ETL/ELT tools such as Apache Airflow or similar.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teams across data science, business intelligence, and software engineering to deliver high-quality data solutions.
• Solid understanding of the significance of data validation and the fundamentals of ensuring data quality (e.g., checking for duplicates, missing values, or incorrect data formats).
• Basic knowledge of data modeling techniques.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
