This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.
• Construct and sustain comprehensive pipelines within the Azure ecosystem, facilitating the ingestion of source data into the Data Lake and Azure SQL, orchestrated via Azure Data Factory.
• Create data warehouse layers, transitioning from raw staging to Data Vault and Business Vault, culminating in the dimensional Data Mart, primarily utilizing T-SQL.
• Develop and enhance stored procedures for data transformation and loading (including full, incremental, and delete loads), incorporating watermark-driven incremental processing.
• Accurately model data by designing hubs, links, and satellites in the vault, along with conformed facts and dimensions in the mart.
• Explore and comprehend source systems to ensure that the model accurately represents the true meaning of the data, beyond its structural form.
• Deliver insights through Power BI by independently creating datasets/semantic models and reports.
• Take responsibility for data quality, incorporating validation and monitoring into the platform, and adeptly troubleshooting any issues with pipelines, stored procedures, or database projects.
• Assume the role of an analyst by profiling new datasets, addressing data inquiries directly, and ensuring that numbers are reconciled before reaching the business.
• Approximately 5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering and database development.
• Core technologies you will engage with include: T-SQL, Azure (Data Factory, Data Lake Storage Gen2, Azure SQL), Power BI, and Git, along with Data Vault and dimensional modeling.
• In-depth understanding of relational databases: you can model in 3NF, interpret execution plans, optimize slow queries, and confidently navigate the Data Vault layer beneath the mart, rather than just the semantic layer above.
• Strong proficiency in T-SQL, particularly in writing stored procedures for data transformation and loading.
• Practical experience in Azure data engineering: you have successfully constructed end-to-end pipelines utilizing ADF, Data Lake Gen2, and Azure SQL.
• You actively build in Power BI, not merely consuming it: creating datasets/semantic models, establishing relationships, DAX, and generating reports.
• A commitment to reliability: ensuring data quality is validated and monitored as part of your work, using Git as a standard practice, and possessing the ability to trace issues in broken pipelines, procedures, or database projects to their root cause and resolve them calmly.
• Strong communication skills: fully proficient in English to collaborate effectively with clients and a remote team.
• Preferred qualifications: experience with Data Vault 2.0; familiarity with semantic-layer tools like Dremio; background in operational/logistics/industrial domains (e.g., ports, terminals, maintenance/CMMS, IoT-style event data).
• A competitive salary ranging from €3,200 to €4,000 per month, along with profit sharing and pension (NL only).
• An annual development budget of €5,000.
• 8% holiday allowance (NL only).
• A €500 budget for home-office setup.
• Provision of a laptop.
• Team outings and informal gatherings.
• 25 vacation days, in addition to public holidays, special leave, the option to purchase up to 10 additional days, and a sabbatical of up to 4 months.
