This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Evaluate the existing conditions, establish target architectures (including business, data, and technology layers), and formulate a long-term strategy for data management and utilization.
• Create, implement, and deploy governance frameworks, RACI/responsibility matrices, policies, processes, and KPIs to maintain data quality, security, and compliance.
• Identify and record data and metadata standards (such as naming conventions, data models, interfaces, and quality metrics), communicate them across the organization, and provide necessary training.
• Choose and integrate technologies (including data lakes, data warehouses, streaming, master data management, data catalogs, and cloud services) to construct scalable, resilient, and performance-optimized platforms.
• Assist project teams in executing data science, reporting, and integration initiatives, ensuring compliance with governance policies and conducting architecture evaluations.
• Establish roles, responsibilities, and training initiatives, mentor business units and IT teams, and foster a data-driven culture.
• Align data architecture with IT Service Management (ITSM), Project Portfolio Management (PPM), and Demand Management to guarantee consistent processes and unified data services.
• At least 8 years of experience in developing and managing data architecture programs within mid-sized to large organizations.
• Demonstrated success in formulating and executing enterprise data strategies, resulting in measurable enhancements in data quality and accessibility.
• Hands-on experience in implementing data governance frameworks, as well as defining roles and operationalizing governance processes.
• Extensive technical expertise in data lake, data warehouse, and master data management architectures (e.g., Snowflake, Azure Synapse, Google BigQuery, Kafka, Delta Lake).
• Proficient in integrating modern data platforms within hybrid cloud environments.
• Experience in developing data and metadata standards, naming conventions, and data quality rules, including conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling.
• Comprehensive knowledge of TOGAF (ADM phases) and DAMA-DMBOK and their application in data architecture.
• Expertise in regulatory mandates such as GDPR, CCPA, and ISO 27001 as they pertain to data.
• Familiarity with data management tools such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Talend, dbt, Apache Airflow, Power BI, or Tableau.
• Experience in designing APIs, event-driven architectures, ETL/ELT pipelines, and DataOps practices.
• Capability to support data and BI projects and conduct technical architecture reviews to ensure adherence to standards.
• Strong change and stakeholder management skills, along with experience in mentoring business and IT teams.
• Ability to analyze data-driven business challenges and devise solution concepts with measurable business benefits.
• Proficient in German and English, both written and spoken.
• This position is likely to be performed entirely remotely.
