This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey, +1 more state.
• Stay informed about federal and state laws, regulations, industry codes of conduct, and best practices that may affect the structure or operation of the company's Compliance Program.
• Assist the Chief Compliance Officer in overseeing comprehensive and ancillary projects, ensuring adherence to all relevant laws and regulations. This includes drafting and updating policies and compliance-related materials, as well as developing, implementing, and managing effective compliance training and education initiatives for all company employees and third parties conducting business on the company's behalf.
• Create, implement, and train Team Members on protocols and procedures to ensure adherence to compliant practices.
• Promote and maintain open communication channels for reporting any observed or suspected compliance issues or concerns, which includes managing the compliance hotline.
• Aid in the development, leadership, and management of risk-based healthcare compliance monitoring and auditing programs to identify, address, and rectify compliance violations.
• Assist in the creation, leadership, and management of risk-based privacy monitoring and auditing programs to identify, address, and rectify compliance violations.
• Support the development, implementation, and enforcement of compliance standards through well-publicized disciplinary guidelines.
• Oversee and/or conduct compliance and privacy investigations, including root cause analyses and corrective action plans.
• Execute other compliance-related tasks and projects (such as tracking and monitoring licenses, leases, etc.) to support legal and business units.
• Compose weekly Compliance messages for Team Members.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• At least 7 years of experience in compliance and privacy within a healthcare environment, with increasing levels of responsibility and leadership.
• Background in Healthcare Compliance, Health Information Management, or the Legal field.
• Extensive experience with federal and state healthcare regulations or similar regulations.
• Proven ability to write and interpret legal documents and policies, along with a strong understanding of applicable laws and regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects while exercising excellent judgment.
• Proven ability to collaborate with all Team Members – from Akumin’s Executive Leadership Team to Staff – as well as with healthcare providers, patients, and others.
