This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +2 more states.
• Perform consumer compliance reviews, regulatory assessments, risk evaluations, and issue validation tasks.
• Assess business processes and controls for adherence to relevant federal and state consumer finance regulations.
• Recognize compliance risks, document findings, and assist in remediation efforts.
• Provide ongoing status updates to Senior Compliance Examiners and management throughout the review process.
• Create clear, precise, and well-documented workpapers that detail testing procedures, results, and supporting analyses.
• Maintain an up-to-date understanding of relevant regulatory requirements, changes, and business initiatives, and their potential compliance implications.
• Identify compliance risks and control weaknesses based on testing outcomes and observations, and communicate findings to the review lead.
• Deliver timely status updates on assigned testing activities to management.
• Contribute to the creation of thorough and defensible testing reports.
• Build and sustain effective working relationships with business partners and internal stakeholders during reviews.
• Address inquiries from business partners regarding compliance requirements and regulatory expectations.
• Examine and evaluate policies, procedures, workflows, and first-line monitoring activities.
• Investigate regulatory and operational inquiries, summarize findings, provide recommendations, or escalate complex issues as needed.
• Formulate corrective action recommendations, review management action plans, and validate remediation efforts until issue resolution.
• Assist with special projects and perform additional duties as required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Compliance, Legal Studies, or a related field, or equivalent work experience, is required.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in financial services, consumer lending, compliance, risk management, internal audit, or related regulatory roles is required, including at least 3 years in compliance testing.
• Certification as a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) is preferred.
• Proficient knowledge of consumer retail finance regulations, such as TILA, ECOA, FCRA, FDCPA, EFTA, ESIGN, GLBA, MLA, SCRA, TCPA, UDAAP, and other relevant federal and state regulations.
• Strong analytical abilities with the capacity to interpret regulations and apply them to business processes.
• Capability to independently plan, organize, and execute assigned testing activities while adhering to established timelines and quality standards.
• Ability to identify trends, emerging risks, and root causes throughout testing cycles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document findings clearly and present recommendations to stakeholders.
• Experience in developing clear and defensible testing documentation and reports.
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders and effectively communicate findings.
• Experience collaborating with legal, risk, audit, and operational teams to address compliance issues.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with Jira, Confluence, compliance management systems, or data analytics tools is preferred.
