Coding Auditor, Health Information Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Provide ongoing education to the Coding Staff.

• Accountable for intricate audits of clinically coded data to evaluate coding quality in terms of accuracy, completeness, and consistency.

• Act as a specialist in the Outpatient Prospective Payment System or Inpatient Prospective Payment System.

• Conduct independent assessments of coded data quality through continuous analysis and evaluation of outpatient or inpatient records.

• Execute concurrent audits on the accuracy of APC, ASC, or MS-DRGs and the quality of medical record documentation necessary for precise coding.

• Generate reports and maintain continuous monitoring and trending of audit findings, as well as prepare presentations for the education of Coding Staff.

• Collaborate with HIM coding management to develop education and training for coders, clinical departments, and/or physicians aimed at improving documentation.

• Establish consistency and efficiency in the processing of outpatient or inpatient claims and data collection to enhance APC, ASC, or DRG reimbursement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must obtain CCS or RHIT certification within 2 years if not certified upon hire.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management or an equivalent qualification is preferred.

• AHIMA approved ICD10CM/PCS trainer is preferred.

• Strong proficiency in ICD10CM/PCS, CPT4, and HCPCS coding conventions and guidelines, as well as encoders and National and Local Coverage Determinations.

• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Minimum Required Experience: 2 Years.
