Cobol/CICS Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Ensure that requirements align with client specifications and government standards through formal verification methods.

• Convert high-level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and collaborate with other engineering disciplines to create detailed implementation requirements.

• Establish and oversee the development of standards, practices, and procedures related to the overall product development process.

• Design interfaces and integrate system elements to ensure cohesive functionality.

• Evaluate performance using established criteria and technical performance metrics.

• Act as a liaison for customers and support business development activities to understand and refine requirements.

• Engage in system conceptual design and document the design concepts.

• Participate in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure relevance to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation.

• Develop system-level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test protocols.

• Review test plans and procedures to ensure they meet contractual objectives and participate in the testing process to validate requirements.

• Modify existing databases and database management systems or guide programmers and analysts in making necessary changes.

• Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers for database management systems or direct others in coding descriptions.

• Collaborate within a project team to coordinate database development and define project scope and limitations.

• Assess project requests that describe database users' needs to estimate the time and cost required for project completion.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field is required.

• Over 5 years of mainframe experience with COBOL, CICS, JCL, and DB2.

• Proficiency in designing, coding, and testing software requirements.

• Fundamental understanding of the complete software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification writing, to development, testing, and delivery.

• Familiarity with the Agile methodology is a plus.

• Ability to work independently.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving abilities, customer service orientation, and interpersonal skills.

• Must be a US Citizen (no dual citizenship allowed).

• Capable of obtaining DoD Public Trust clearance.

• Must not have traveled outside the US for a total of 6 months or more in the last 5 years.

• Must have resided in the US for the past 5 years.
