Cloud DevOps Engineer, Technical Mentor – Independent Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• As a technical mentor, your role will encompass three primary responsibilities.

• Conduct one-on-one video calls.

• Facilitate Virtual Technical Deep-Dive Sessions.

• Organize Group Q&A sessions.

• Offer tailored support by answering student inquiries regarding course material and projects.

• Before each call, mentors should review the student’s prior project submissions—provided by the Mentor Success Team when available—and any particular aspects of the Nanodegree content or project where the student has indicated confusion or challenges.

• For concept deep-dives, mentors will prepare a slide presentation that elaborates on a Nanodegree concept, sharing various use-cases to enhance student comprehension and understanding, followed by a Q&A session with the learners.

• In project walkthroughs, a mentor will present a slide deck that details each component of the rubric to assist learners in grasping expectations and common areas of difficulty. This may include a mentor evaluating a sample submission to illustrate what is looked for during project reviews.

• Host regular sessions (via Slack or video) to respond to learner queries related to projects and coursework, with no prior preparation needed.

• Demonstrated technical proficiency with over 5 years of experience in the relevant field.

• A strong enthusiasm for mentoring and aiding others in their educational journey.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills; you thrive on building relationships, communicating effectively, and nurturing a positive learning atmosphere.

• An in-depth understanding of the tech industry and emerging trends in AI and related domains.

• The ability to work part-time as an external contractor alongside your existing commitments.

• Solid grasp of AWS Cloud fundamentals and key cloud computing concepts.

• Practical experience with AWS services, including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, DynamoDB, VPC, IAM, SNS, and Elastic Beanstalk.

• Familiarity with cloud networking, load balancing, autoscaling, and security best practices.

• Experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CloudFormation.

• Proficiency in containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Experience in constructing and managing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and deployment automation tools.

• Knowledge of serverless architectures and AWS Lambda-based development.

• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability tools like Amazon CloudWatch.

• Understanding of microservices architecture and scalable cloud implementations.

• Strong skills in troubleshooting, automation, and problem-solving.
