Cloud Database Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Manage daily database operations and service requests within both cloud-native (Cloud SQL) and traditional SQL Server environments.

• Develop and enhance SQL queries, stored procedures, and data models to support software and data product teams.

• Collaborate with architects and engineers to create scalable, low-latency database services for OLTP and analytical workloads.

• Create and oversee CI/CD pipelines for schema migrations utilizing Liquibase or Flyway.

• Aid in the automation of database provisioning, monitoring, and security enhancement through Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform).

• Identify and troubleshoot performance issues by leveraging telemetry tools to pinpoint slow queries, inefficient indexing, and capacity constraints.

• Provide support for ETL pipelines and real-time data movement in cloud-native settings, closely partnering with data engineering teams.

• Maintain and document operational runbooks, architectural decisions, and troubleshooting guides.

• Collaborate with principal engineers and the Enterprise Architecture organization to design reusable patterns and blueprints for common database workloads.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or other relational database systems.

• Extensive experience in writing and optimizing SQL queries, views, and stored procedures.

• Strong grasp of data modeling principles and indexing strategies to ensure performance and scalability.

• Practical experience in constructing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for schema migrations using Liquibase or Flyway.

• Hands-on experience with cloud-native managed database services (e.g., Cloud SQL on GCP or similar).

• Familiarity with observability and telemetry tools for analyzing database performance (e.g., Cloud Monitoring, OpenTelemetry, or alike).

• Experience in supporting ETL pipelines or facilitating real-time data movement in cloud environments.

• Proficient in using Git within collaborative team settings.

• Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a systematic approach to root cause analysis.

• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) for database provisioning and automation is a plus.

• Familiarity with AlloyDB is a plus.
