This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +2 more states.
• Act as a subject matter expert in clinical documentation integrity and a resource for the CDI team.
• Provide daily guidance, coaching, and mentorship to members of the CDI staff.
• Assist in onboarding, training, and professional development initiatives.
• Support efforts aimed at performance improvement and operational excellence.
• Collaborate with leadership to foster a culture of teamwork and engagement within the team.
• Aid in the implementation of CDI policies, procedures, workflows, communication strategies, and educational plans.
• Assist in resolving CDI and coding-related inquiries as well as documentation opportunities.
• Work together with CDI leadership on departmental initiatives and engagements with contracted clients.
• Participate in audits, quality assessments, and compliance monitoring activities.
• Conduct concurrent and follow-up reviews to ensure documentation accurately represents patient severity, quality of care, and reimbursement factors.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing teams, coding professionals, and compliance partners to enhance documentation practices.
• Maintain productivity standards while managing leadership responsibilities.
• Stay informed on ICD-10-CM guidelines, Coding Clinic updates, CMS regulations, and industry best practices.
• Partner with CDI leadership to create and evaluate operational metrics.
• Monitor team performance indicators, quality outcomes, and financial implications.
• Use data to identify trends and suggest process enhancements.
• An Associate Degree in Nursing is required.
• A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
• 3-5 years of recent clinical experience in an inpatient acute care setting such as Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Telemetry, or Emergency Department.
• 2-3 years of recent experience in frontline inpatient CDI.
• An active and unrestricted U.S. Registered Nurse (RN) license is required.
• Prior experience in a CDI Team Lead, Supervisor, Educator, or Management role is preferred.
• CCDS and/or CDIP certification is preferred.
• Strong experience in provider education and physician engagement is preferred.
• Experience leading quality improvement initiatives is preferred.
• Experience in developing CDI metrics and reporting is preferred.
• Multi-facility or consulting CDI experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with ICD-10-CM guidelines, Coding Clinic updates, CMS regulations, and industry best practices is essential.
