This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.
• Act as a reliable advisor to client organizations, offering expert insights into clinical documentation practices.
• Perform thorough concurrent and retrospective clinical documentation evaluations across client facilities.
• Work in partnership with client physicians and leadership to enhance documentation clarity.
• Create and distribute compliant physician queries, following AHIMA and ACDIS standards.
• Provide education and mentorship to client staff and providers on best practices in Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI).
• Analyze and present findings and trends related to CDI.
• Assist in the development and optimization of client CDI programs.
• Engage in implementation projects for CDI software tools and initiatives related to workflow redesign.
• Uphold a professional representation of the firm with clients, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) License is mandatory.
• CCDS or CDIP certification is required.
• Must keep all professional licenses and certifications current and active.
• Note: This particular role necessitates a clinical nursing background; Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) will not be considered.
• 3–5 years of progressive experience in CDI within acute care or consulting settings.
• Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM/PCS, MS-DRG, APR-DRG, risk adjustment, and clinical coding guidelines.
• Demonstrated success in engaging providers and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Preferred experience in supporting CDI or coding enhancement initiatives across multiple facilities or health systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a consultative and professional approach.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• High level of proficiency in EHR and CDI technologies (Epic, Cerner, Iodine, 3M, Nuance, or equivalent).
• Capability to manage multiple client projects with a focus on details and deadlines.
• Independent, adaptable, and collaborative working style suited for a dynamic consulting environment.
• Preferred: Experience with a consulting firm or background in multi-client CDI support.
• Familiarity with outpatient CDI and risk-adjusted quality measures (e.g., HCCs, MIPS).
• Advanced education or training in clinical data analytics or quality improvement.
• Travel up to 10% (as necessary) for onsite assessments, educational sessions, and client engagement activities.
