This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as a trusted advisor for client organizations, offering expert guidance in clinical documentation practices.
• Perform comprehensive concurrent and retrospective clinical documentation reviews at client sites to pinpoint areas for documentation enhancement.
• Collaborate with client physicians and leadership to clarify documentation and ensure an accurate representation of patient acuity and resource utilization.
• Create and issue compliant physician queries, in accordance with AHIMA and ACDIS standards.
• Provide education and mentorship to client staff and providers on CDI best practices, coding principles, and documentation requirements.
• Analyze and report on CDI findings and trends, providing actionable insights and recommendations for process improvement.
• Assist in the development and optimization of client CDI programs, including workflow design, policy alignment, and performance metric tracking.
• Engage in implementation projects for CDI software tools and workflow redesign initiatives.
• Enhance the internal consulting knowledge base by sharing clinical, coding, and operational insights with colleagues and leadership.
• Represent the firm in a professional manner with clients, upholding confidentiality, accuracy, and high standards of consulting integrity.
• Foreign Medical Graduate (FMG) with an accomplished medical degree.
• CCDS or CDIP certification is mandatory.
• Must maintain current and active status for all professional credentials and certifications.
• 3–5 years of progressive CDI experience in acute care or consulting settings.
• Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM/PCS, MS-DRG, APR-DRG, risk adjustment, and clinical coding guidelines.
• Demonstrated success in provider engagement and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Experience in supporting CDI or coding improvement initiatives across multiple facilities or health systems is preferred.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a consultative and professional demeanor.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• High proficiency in EHR and CDI technology (Epic, Cerner, Iodine, 3M, Nuance, or equivalent).
• Capability to manage multiple client projects while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
• Independent, adaptable, and collaborative work style suitable for a dynamic consulting environment.
• Prior experience in a consulting firm or multi-client CDI support background is preferred.
• Familiarity with outpatient CDI and risk-adjusted quality measures (e.g., HCCs, MIPS).
• Advanced education or training in clinical data analytics or quality improvement.
• Travel up to 10% (as required) for onsite assessments, educational sessions, and client engagement activities.
