Big Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Greece.

📋 Description

• **An Overview of Your Daily Activities:**

• - Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines that support models, data, and AI workflows for both internal and client-facing applications.

• - Collaborate closely with data scientists to work across various database types — relational, vector, and graph — effectively modeling and storing data according to each access pattern.

• - Construct and sustain dbt models by writing transformation logic, conducting tests, and documenting processes to ensure data quality and traceability throughout.

• - Manage the systems you create: set up logging, metrics, and tracing for pipelines; identify and resolve production data problems proactively.

• - Write clean, well-tested, production-ready code while contributing to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code.

• - Participate actively in code reviews, design discussions, and retrospectives, bringing valuable insights to the table.

⛳️ Requirements

• **Your Skills and Experience🚀:**

• - 3–8 years of experience in data engineering, big data, or similar positions.

• - Proficient SQL skills for querying, transforming, optimizing performance, and data modeling.

• - Strong programming and scripting experience in Python for ETL development, automation, and data processing.

• - Practical experience with Apache Spark and PySpark for processing large-scale batch or streaming data.

• - Experience in building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines in enterprise or on-premise settings.

• - Preferred: Familiarity with Python backend API frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django for internal data services, orchestration endpoints, or platform integrations.

• - Experience with relational databases and warehouse/lake platforms like PostgreSQL, Hive, or enterprise data warehouses.

• - Capable of implementing data quality checks, testing, monitoring, and troubleshooting pipelines.
