
Behavioral Health Peer Support Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Uphold the company's mission and values while delivering outstanding services to our clients and patients.
• Offer practical, everyday support to help individuals navigate daily challenges through modeling and coaching.
• Share your personal journey of mental health recovery based on a predefined plan via telephone/telehealth with peers.
• Manage a personal caseload of peers, their families, and/or support systems through regular telephone/telehealth sessions.
• Keep timely and accurate records of patient interactions and data.
• Efficiently handle call queues and pre-scheduled calls in a prompt, engaging, or meaningful way.
• Participate in an on-call rotation with team members for MAP’s 24/7 after-hours support line.
• Help peers identify additional resources to support their holistic recovery objectives.
• Evaluate any client concerns, escalate as necessary, and collaborate with leadership to find solutions.
• Project a professional and courteous demeanor to MAP’s patients and colleagues.
• Contribute to staffing and company meetings in a well-paced and concise manner.
• A state Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPS) certification is mandatory for employment.
• A Nationally Certified Peer Support Specialist (NCPS) certification through Mental Health America is preferred.
• At least three (3) years of experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder, or peer support settings is required.
• Must possess personal experience with a mental health condition.
• Must be actively stable in mental health recovery.
• High emotional intelligence with the capacity to process insights and accept feedback is essential.
• Ability to remain calm and composed in crisis situations.
• Capability to establish boundaries, recognizing that personal disclosures may affect your own recovery journey.
• Maintain a lifestyle that fosters ongoing mental, physical, and spiritual well-being through effective stress management.
• Ability to nurture healthy interpersonal relationships and connect with others.
• Skill in processing change through effective communication strategies.
• Understanding and sensitivity to the challenges faced by individuals and families impacted by behavioral health, approached in a stigma-free and accepting manner.
• Must comply with MAP’s Teleworking requirements and expectations, which include having a quiet designated office space with a locked door and access to high-speed internet.
