Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Design and maintain backend services, APIs, and enterprise integration components that support shared services and mission-critical applications.

• Implement business logic, service orchestration, and data access layers to facilitate product functionality and workflow needs.

• Create secure, scalable, and maintainable server-side solutions by adhering to approved architectures, development standards, and best practices.

• Work alongside frontend developers, QA engineers, DevSecOps teams, and product stakeholders to ensure comprehensive solution delivery.

• Engage in technical design discussions, estimation processes, code reviews, troubleshooting, and production support activities.

• Enhance backend service performance, reliability, monitoring, logging, and observability across various environments.

• Assist with data exchange processes, error handling, operational resilience, and secure service-to-service communication.

• Contribute to technical documentation, reusable components, development standards, and initiatives for continuous improvement.

• Aid in defect resolution, release support activities, and ongoing maintenance of applications.

• Support Agile delivery processes and align technical tasks with sprint, increment, and release priorities.

• Contribute to team goals and take on additional responsibilities as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field; equivalent experience may be accepted.

• At least 5 years of experience in backend software engineering or enterprise application development.

• Strong practical experience with Java, Spring Boot, RESTful services, and principles of API development.

• Proficient in SQL, relational database technologies, and backend data processing patterns.

• Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns, authentication methods, and secure service-to-service communication practices.

• Experience with Git-based version control systems and CI/CD delivery workflows.

• Strong skills in debugging, troubleshooting, analysis, and code quality assurance.

• Familiarity with secure coding standards and best practices in enterprise software development.

• Experience collaborating with engineering, QA, DevSecOps, and product teams in Agile delivery settings.

• Ability to acquire and maintain a Government clearance.

• Additional Qualifications:

• Experience with healthcare integrations, enterprise messaging standards, or healthcare data exchange workflows is advantageous.

• Familiarity with AWS cloud services, container platforms, and deployment automation tools is favorable.

• Experience in supporting Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) initiatives or federal government delivery programs is preferred.

• Exposure to InterSystems IRIS, FHIR APIs, healthcare interoperability workflows, or integration platforms is beneficial.

• Relevant certifications in cloud, Agile, or software development are a plus.
