ASC Coding Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Conducting reviews of documents to identify all relevant procedures and diagnoses.

• Ensuring accurate coding of encounters based on the documents provided.

• Assigning the appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes along with modifiers in accordance with documentation.

• Carrying out continuous analysis of medical record documentation.

• Recording any coding errors identified.

• Supporting coding management activities.

• Offering feedback to coders regarding any discrepancies or deficiencies in coding.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma or an equivalent qualification.

• RHIT and/or CPC certification is required.

• A minimum of one (1) year of experience in medical billing is preferred.

• Familiarity with the 2023 MDM Guidelines is required.

• Understanding the use and function of modifiers in CPT coding.

• Comprehensive knowledge of the CPT/ICD-10 coding systems.

• Capability to read and interpret documentation to assign the correct codes for diagnoses and procedures.

• Ability to comprehend and apply state and federal laws, regulations, and policies.

• Flexibility to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

• Proficiency in medical terminology and anatomy.

• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Strong organizational and time management capabilities.

• Basic proficiency in using computers, telephones, the internet, copiers, faxes, and scanners.

• Ability to achieve proficiency in billing software within 4 weeks and maintain that proficiency.
