This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.
• Focus on mastering audit tools and procedures within one species while acclimating to the position and organization.
• Start developing skills across various species and enhance understanding of other animal welfare sectors (multi-species auditing is REQUIRED).
• Conduct audits at designated facilities.
• Ensure consistency and precision in all audits and audit reports.
• Communicate with clients in preparation for audits.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding all work-related aspects and adhere to procedures established by FACTA and its auditing clients.
• Follow all required protocols and procedures, including submitting a comprehensive time and expense report before the firm deadline.
• Schedule travel associated with audits.
• Meet specified timelines for audit reports.
• Communicate with management, producers, and others as necessary.
• Capable of working independently in a timely manner without direct supervision.
• Demonstrate a foundational understanding of computer systems utilized in the audit report process.
• Exhibit effective communication, listening, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to ask questions.
• Escalate risks and issues that exceed personal experience or skill set.
• Comply with firm practice management procedures and systems.
• Complete audit procedures that gather sufficient appropriate audit evidence with a focus on quality and in accordance with applicable auditing standards.
• Maintain professional skepticism, considering alternative and disconfirming evidence.
• Deliver tasks and deliverables to a high-quality standard.
• Keep senior team members updated on significant developments and progress regarding engagements.
• Basic understanding of industry jargon.
• Intermediate knowledge in at least one species.
• Assist in updating training programs and audit documents annually under the supervision of other team members.
• Travel frequency varies throughout the year, ranging from 60-80% with some trips starting on Sunday evening.
• Audits are conducted across the United States.
• Attend industry conferences alongside experienced auditors/directors, providing assistance and engaging with current and prospective clients.
• A bachelor’s degree in a field related to animal production and welfare is preferred.
• A minimum of two years of experience and/or training in animal production or welfare (an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered).
• Please note that this does not include veterinary care for domestic animals.
• Hold active PAACO certifications (poultry or swine) or be in the process of obtaining them.
• Exposure to animal welfare or animal husbandry is required.
• Proficiency in computer skills is required.
• Possess a working knowledge of livestock handling tools.
• Ability to travel 60-80% for on-site audits.
