Analista de Banco de Dados, DBA, DBRE

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• ➡ Manage, maintain, and monitor all databases (PostgreSQL and Oracle), ensuring availability, integrity, and performance;

• ➡ Oversee the installation, configuration, and patching of instances;

• ➡ Lead version upgrades and major migrations, proactively addressing end-of-life (EOL) support for versions—planning and executing database updates (e.g., PostgreSQL 14 → supported version) with minimal downtime and a rollback plan;

• ➡ Define and implement backup and recovery strategies (including PITR), regularly validating restorations;

• ➡ Establish and maintain high availability, replication, and failover (RTO/RPO);

• ➡ Conduct capacity planning and manage database growth;

• ➡ Review and authorize structural (DDL) and data (DML) changes before they go into production;

• ➡ Act as a quality gatekeeper in SQL code reviews and migrations, preventing regressions before merging;

• ➡ Ensure schema versioning and traceability of changes (e.g., Flyway, Liquibase) integrated into CI/CD;

• ➡ Implement changes via GMUD, with rollback plans and controlled windows;

• ➡ Define and monitor SLI/SLO for databases and act based on Error Budget;

• ➡ Enhance database observability (metrics, dashboards, and alerts), detecting issues before they impact clients;

• ➡ Address database incidents, conducting root cause analysis (RCA) and prevention;

• ➡ Perform tuning and optimization (execution plans, indexes, slow queries, parameters);

• ➡ Guide development teams on best practices for data modeling and access;

• ➡ Manage access controls and roles (principle of least privilege);

• ➡ Implement encryption, masking, and auditing to protect sensitive data (compliance with LGPD);

• ➡ Ensure traceability and hardening of database environments;

• ➡ Automate DBA routines (provisioning, maintenance, checks), reducing manual work and human error;

• ➡ Leverage AI to support operations—analyzing queries, diagnostics, optimization, and documentation;

• ➡ Continuously seek to "automate before repeating," evolving the data platform;

• ➡ Apply security best practices in production databases (access, segregation, encryption);

• ➡ Ensure traceability and auditing of changes and accesses;

• ➡ Protect sensitive data and support compliance (LGPD, ISO 27001);

• ➡ Follow data protection policies when handling databases and migrations;

⛳️ Requirements

• ➡ Solid experience as a PostgreSQL DBA (administration, tuning, backup/recovery, replication);

• ➡ Knowledge of Oracle (administration and PL/SQL);

• ➡ Advanced SQL skills and execution plan analysis;

• ➡ Experience with backup, recovery, and high availability (HA/DR);

• ➡ Experience with version upgrades and database migrations (including major upgrades and end-of-support management);

• ➡ Experience with database monitoring and observability;

• ➡ Knowledge of security and access control in databases;

• ➡ Experience with governance and versioning of changes (DDL/DML, migrations);

• ➡ Knowledge in Linux and automation/scripts (Shell, Python, or similar);

• ➡ Use of AI in daily operations and a mindset for automation;

• ➡ Analytical, meticulous, and organized profile, with strong technical communication skills;

• ➡ Ability to learn quickly;

• ➡ PostgreSQL on Kubernetes (operators like CloudNativePG, Patroni, or Zalando);

• ➡ Schema migration tools (Flyway, Liquibase);

• ➡ PostgreSQL extensions and ecosystem (PgBouncer, pg_partman, partitioning);

• ➡ Advanced Oracle knowledge (RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, ASM);

• ➡ Experience with OCI and its database services (Base Database Service, OCI Database with PostgreSQL) or other clouds (AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure);

• ➡ Interest/experience with Oracle engineered systems (Exadata)—a forward-looking perspective for our environment;

• ➡ Knowledge in observability (Grafana, Prometheus, Elastic);

• ➡ Experience with data migration and legacy systems;

• ➡ Knowledge in messaging/streaming (Kafka, Redis);

• ➡ Experience with applied AI in databases (optimization, diagnostics, copilots);

• ➡ Experience in regulated environments (government, legal, or financial);

• ➡ Certifications in PostgreSQL, Oracle, or Cloud;
