Adversarial AI, Research Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Lead adversarial testing by designing, scoping, and executing red team assessments across our AI ecosystem, utilizing a risk-based prioritization approach to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities before they can be exploited.

• Innovate AI attack techniques by merging state-of-the-art academic research with established offensive security practices to create new Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures, while operationalizing emerging research to ensure assessments remain at the forefront of the field.

• Develop and expand security tools with an automation-first mindset, driving initiatives to enhance security testing early in the process by sharing specialized tools with AI security stakeholders across Engineering, Research, and Ethics.

• Act as a strategic collaborator throughout the organization, offering an offensive security viewpoint to inform product development, assist in corporate governance, and contribute to policies such as Salesforce's Generative AI Security Standard.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 1 year of experience in offensive security or adversarial AI testing, including red teaming, application security, penetration testing, and vulnerability research.

• More than 6 years of hands-on experience in testing the security of AI/ML systems, with comprehensive knowledge of LLM vulnerabilities.

• Strong proficiency in Python for tool development, assessment automation, and data analysis.

• Demonstrated experience in leading complex technical projects and mentoring security teams, with a remarkable ability to communicate high-stakes technical risks to both engineering and executive audiences.

• An advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a relevant discipline, or a public portfolio showcasing security research through conference presentations, published papers, CVEs, or open-source contributions.
