This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Under the guidance of the Dean of General Education, the adjunct instructor delivers an engaging learning experience in the classroom, online, and/or in laboratory settings utilizing various teaching techniques such as lectures and demonstrations.
• Maintain student engagement in the classroom while adhering to an established curriculum and syllabus.
• Foster a positive educational atmosphere for students to thrive in, while clearly communicating objectives for all learning activities.
• Achieve both course-specific and school-wide student performance objectives.
• Oversee student behavior in classroom and online environments.
• Observe and assess student performance regularly.
• Identify and refer students who may be “at risk” of underperforming to the Student Success Coordinator.
• Offer continuous student advisement and academic counseling by providing one-on-one tutoring and mentoring as necessary.
• Evaluate tests and projects, maintain grade books, monitor attendance, and carry out other administrative responsibilities as required.
• Administer oral, written, or performance assessments to track progress and assess training effectiveness.
• Engage in ongoing conferences, seminars, and training sessions (including 2 educational in-services, 1 distance education in-service, and proof of at least 2 professional development activities annually).
• Contribute to and participate in academic committees aimed at enhancing both programs and student experiences.
• A Master's degree or higher from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) is mandatory.
• A minimum of 15 credit hours or equivalent in the designated subject area is required.
• Candidates from Georgia, Ohio, Texas, and Virginia must possess a Master’s degree in the relevant discipline or a Master’s degree in any field coupled with 18 semester credit hours of graduate coursework pertinent to the discipline.
• Two years of practical experience in the course content area with a related degree, or three years of practical experience if the degree is in an unrelated field is essential.
• At least three years of experience as an educator is preferred.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
