This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Deliver both synchronous and asynchronous academic coaching, tutorials, webinars, and constructive feedback to students.
• Assist students in enhancing their scholarly writing, academic voice, adherence to APA standards, critical analysis, literature-based arguments, and written communication abilities.
• Assess students’ learning strengths, weaknesses, skills, deficiencies, and objectives to create tailored academic support plans.
• Provide individualized and group coaching for adult online students across bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs.
• Enable students to become autonomous, self-directed learners.
• Keep detailed records of student interactions and offer post-coaching feedback.
• Participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes.
• Identify and promote the appropriate use of learning resources.
• Create academic materials, including video tutorials and lesson plans.
• Stay updated with organizational, educational, and faculty development policies that impact the Academic Success Center.
• Engage in mandatory training, coaching sessions, team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Uphold the mission of the Academic Success Center.
• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the Academic Success Center Director and/or Coordinator.
• A master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution is required.
• 1–3 years of relevant coaching or tutoring experience in higher education is preferred.
• Proven success in working with non-traditional (adult) students is essential.
• Tutoring or academic coaching certification or evidence of teaching excellence at the university level is preferred.
• Previous experience in tutoring, academic coaching, or teaching written communication is advantageous.
• Ability to deliver personalized instruction in accessible language with minimal preparation.
• Experience in an online learning environment is required.
• Proficiency in using technology for educational delivery is necessary.
• Preference for candidates with experience working with online doctoral students.
• Demonstrated success in guiding doctoral students through dissertation completion is preferred.
• Experience in higher education is desirable.
• Familiarity with working in a technology-driven environment is advantageous.
• Understanding of adult learning theories and cognitive load theories is beneficial.
• Strong graduate-level written communication skills are required.
• Developmental editing skills are necessary.
• Demonstrated knowledge of APA style guidelines and effective paraphrasing is essential.
• Expertise with NVivo is preferred.
• Capability to work effectively in an online setting.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient in operating a personal computer and phone system.
• Ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Skill in establishing online rapport and maintaining a friendly, helpful, and patient demeanor.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and other Microsoft Office applications.
